Shane, a native New Yorker, is the executive director and founder of Your Beautiful
Child LLC. A huge fan of Stevie Nicks, the name of the company was obvious
after looking at a complete list of Stevie's work. Your Beautiful Child
is a practice that encompasses holistic approaches to find solutions
for all children, special needs and neuro-typical. Shane has created the
Bonding Basket, which has items that will soothe and calm any child, and the child at heart. It's an amazing way to bond with anyone, especially a child who spends all day at
school without having their emotional needs met...It can put him right to
sleep, and the bonding time is what finishes his day.
Whether it
be a child with a diagnosis or an issue that limits a child's capacity
to thrive... "everyone needs to remember, a child is a child regardless
of what diagnosis is given or what physically limits them."
Shane
has been working with typical and special needs children for over 15
years in both teaching and therapeutic environments. She has become a
certified practitioner of Yoga for the Special ChildŽ , LLC, and works with a range of special needs children as well as typical
behaving children through adulthood. Whether it be yoga class a sensory integration, play
session, or social skills group, Shane believes each child is special
with an inborn willingness to learn, they will do "good" if they can.
Shane is available on a consulting basis, she will come to your
home/school and work with programs and families to set up behavior modification plans. She attends conferences and talks to stay updated on any
interesting methods to add to her therapy sessions. Shane has spoken at: The Opening Minds conference in Chicago, The Children's Aid Society, Nassau Community College/Center for students with disabilities, Resources for Children with Special Needs, The Hebrew Educational Society/Parent Support Group, Manhattan Family Resource Center, Women in Need, The Park Slope Food Co-op, The Cooke Middle School, The Shorefront Y, and The Schofield Barracks in Honolulu Hawaii. Her main focus is Parent Empowerment, While Relaxing and Bonding with your child which includes Yoga! Contact Shane to have her come present a workshop.
"Positive behavior, and care of the caregiver are the most important parts of being a parent."
Traveling and talking are her favorite past times, being lucky enough to do both for a living is a constant reminder that embracing what a child is naturally good at, will help them create a life where they too can be happy every day...
