Yoga is for all ages, and all walks of life. It's a lifestyle, and can begin at birth. Yoga trains the body with many benefits, connecting all the parts of the self- the inner and outer, the body , mind and spirit- all with the common goal to maintain good health and attain balance. Some benefits of practicing yoga are: ♥ Builds self-esteem ♥ Fosters taking care of oneself ♥ Lengthening attention span ♥ Promoting self discipline ♥ Relaxation techniques reduce hyperactivity ♥ Builds strength and flexibility ♥ Positively affects digestion ♥ Boosts the immune system ♥ Counters "low tone" (poor muscle coordination) ♥ Encourages calm feelings

Children and adults exhibit frustration when they cannot express themselves, which stops all learning and communication processes. Shane naturally began incorporating her own knowledge of yoga and sensory experiences into the children's therapy sessions. All children, and especially children on the Autism spectrum, with ADD, ADHD and any learning disability, are drawn to the body movements of yoga, and attracted to the sensory experiences that made them "feel" good. The breathing exercises get the children's attention and calm them, in turn they are able to attend to tasks for longer periods and communicated in understanding ways.
Naturally parents watching their children practice yoga, want to get involved themselves. It is strongly recommended that a parent begin a lifestyle that includes yoga along with their child. This is a great way to bond as well as a pro-active way to have a healthy lifestyle.
